Since time immemorial, people have been falling sick, getting depressed and bed rotting because they’re scared to face the world. There has been no cure to this other than trials and errors. I have a cure!!. All you need is to see a woman, a beautiful woman that loves smiling and all is well with your world again.

All week, I’ve been busy working. As an entrepreneur, you can’t take a break. You could be in Turks and Caicos surfing and 10 notifications is waiting for you to respond to on twitter, a dispatch rider to threaten and five suppliers to beg to send your goods before 5pm the next day or you’d have to pay people at the park to keep it for you. I’ve been everywhere in this city this week, trying hard to not be dragged by overzealous customers while also remembering to eat and replying my friends. All this chaos piles up and makes you sick

A frustrated baddie trying to beat capitalism

When I had enough, I reached out to my friend to rant. After 40 minutes of “ahh, um, just calm down”, she suggested we go for hertitude, a women exclusive event. We bought tickets from the Zikoko website and started planning for the day. The planning, and budgeting occupied me and the day was all I looked forward to. The theme was hot mini skirt and I was going to devour and deliver, who am I not to?🙂‍↔️

The day came and I woke up at 4:30am

We were chauffeured to Lagos by a rider we employed the week before and we sojourned in an apartment close to the venue. The ride was peaceful and quiet until we entered Lagos, the people living in that city are unreal 😭 but I’m not here for them today.

We were previously talking about depression? It disappeared like it never existed the moment I stepped in the venue. I always say that women should rule the world, I’m reiterating it right now. The fresh breeze of life that hit me when I spotted 5 women on crochet fits? I was healed immediately. The heat was out of the world but that was understandable as I was in the presence of hundreds of hot women🥹. If it wasn’t hot, I’d have ran out

I had several drinks(bad idea), had chicken and chips and a lot of soakings. There were several anti-depressants in different skin tones and sizes, I almost split into a 100 to follow each and everyone home. The dances, the runway walk and the hot babe award. Each second, I felt my soul cleansed all over and my spine stretching. Several hugs, kisses were given to me and I had a good day overall.

I’m back to being a business owner but now, I know what to do when I’m stressed. Thank you 🤭

Do you sometimes need to live in a dream before you sleep? ‘cos I do. There are days I stay up for hours after bedtime struggling with subtle insomnia, I stay away from sleeping pills since when I almost lost my life when I was a teen. Headache starts creeping up, your eyes starts aching and then, you struggle to drop your mobile phone because if you do, it’ll be in your hands in seconds. this happens to me way too often and one of the ways I’ve learned to cope with it is vivid imagination. I hope I’m not freaking you out.

One of those nights, that night was really cold. Rain had fall most of the day and was still drizzling outside. Contrary to the tradition on cold nights, sleep had refused to visit on this day. I laid back on my bed staring into oblivion and I let my head wander until it slid into another world where I was a different person.

I was a slender and light-skinned woman living in a big house , a house I’d never seen in reality. I’ve never wanted to be not melanin, I’ve wished to change many things about me, my weight, my chin but never my skin color so, I affirmed, it is all a lie and an alter ego where I could be anything I wanted. The big house had several helps and large screens, the ones that I’ve never seen. We had huge mirrors, 8ft tall and closets I could get lost in. I had no job to do and I was just lounging and stuffing my face.

My favorite thing about daydreaming is that you’re the architect of your view and anything can be reviewed just by blinking and shutting your eyes. My mind works overtime and I’m not your typical overthinker. I write scripts, produce and direct movies in my head and I watch them too. It’s my favorite thing to do and this series is about telling you about each of it.

Am I the only one or it’s everyone? I act out according to my favorite character in a series I’m watching. Every time. This time around, it’s Rue… from Euphoria. I know what you think but no, I’m not doing drugs. Not that I want to or I can afford it but just like Rue, I feel like a wreck.

I don’t ever want to be that writer that only writes about despair, depression or sadness but we gotta roll regardless.

Sometimes, I think I’ve been sad most of my life and I only get a break sometimes. Other times, I think it’s all in my head. Is it? I have no idea.

Recently, I’ve been living life as it comes. Neither happy not sad, just aloof. I love the numb feeling, you really have nothing to worry about, just an occasional reminder and that’s all. I spend most of my days on my phone and my tablet, either using twitter or tiktok or watching movies on showmax or Netflix.

I saw clips of Euphoria on tiktok last year and I was hooked. I looked it up on Netflix and I think I didn’t find it so, I opted for watching on tiktok. Last week, I signed up for showmax and there it was , staring at me. Maybe because I’m obsessed with Zendaya but I related to everything Rue went through even though I’ve never been in that situation. I started breaking down for no reason, depressed, questioning myself, my growth and I’ve been acting up.

It’s been days of crying and laughing, enjoying solitude and just living. I’m finally done with the series but it just filled me with anger and hurt cos they did my guy, Ash dirty. On the bright side, I discovered Labrinth and it’s one of the most beautiful musician I’ve listened to.

I’m a natural writer, I’ve never trained for it, I built by vocabulary by reading dictionaries and listening in class so, writing never seemed as a skill to me. As someone that deals with a low attention span , I find it really hard to focus. Before I started writing this piece, I needed a picture and on launching my tiktok app, I watched videos for about 30 minutes, read a review and replied a few messages before I remembered why I was there in the first place.

Fragrance, with its delicate allure, represents the initial stages of attraction and connection—the subtle nuances that draw us towards one another. It is the gentle breeze that carries the whispers of possibility, igniting our curiosity and sparking the flame of interest. Out of my five sense, my sense of smells appeals to me the most. If I had a condition that required forgoing my senses except one, I’d keep my sense of smell. More importantly, I love good smell. Regardless of how you look or what your home looks like, the smell appeals to me first.

The first stage of attraction is looks but for me, fragrance tops the list. You could be behind me many seats away and catching a whiff of your fragrance would make me turn around but your looks can’t earn you that from me.The beauty of a home after cleanliness is smelling good. Using diffusers, humidifiers, air conditioners or purifiers… it’s impressive. Cleanliness to Godliness , they say.

When I met my husband, it was at a prayer meeting and I was fatigued silently praying the meeting ends in minutes so I can go home . He slid into the seat next to me and I did my usual breathe in and breath out exercise that I do anytime a stranger sits next to me. I was expecting whatever smell to hit when surprisingly, this man was smelling fresh like spring water. I smiled and my fatigue dissipated. The time passed by quickly and I knew he was the one when he spoke to me with his white porcelain-like teeth. We spoke almost everyday after that and the way he takes his hygiene seriously amazes me till date.

In the tapestry of our lives, let us embrace the fragrance and the fire, cherishing the moments of enchantment while learning to tend and channel the flames of passion. For it is through this delicate balance that we find the transformative power of love and the resilience to rise from the ashes of betrayal and heartache.

21 came with lots of uncertainties and doubts. I usually set a savings goal before my birthday cos if my birthday is not grand, it's not my birthday. I always do a birthday photoshoot, buy myself a gift and do a little get-together with my two friends.

I broke my savings earlier this year and I couldn't continue so, I was relying on my income which became irregular after the election. I tried a minimal shoot but my MUA travelled a day to the shoot (I didn't tell her before) and I resorted to posting the pictures I've taken before. A severe heartbreak happened along the line and I just lost the light.

I have struggled mentally, couldn't post my business, couldn't write for weeks but this month blew a breeze of peace, I'm free!

I put a little idea of getting cupcake with fancy candle for a selfie but I couldn't get candles, we tried rolling paper but it didn't end well. We almost got blown up 🤣. I took a few selfies anyways.

My birthday went okay with plenty of wishes, cake from my best friend and few monetary gifts. Most importantly, I spent it with my loved ones in the best way I could dream of.

Regardless, Happy birthday to me!♥️

I didn't achieve any of my set goals but I'm definitely smashing it before the end of the year.

Last year when I decided to catch small fish in the ocean, I met this man on twitter and we kicked it off. We’d text 10 hours daily, he had me rolling from one side of bed to another slapping the wall in laughter. He was an experienced man cos he never carries the 8pm-2am conversations, that was the peak of every woman’s mumulity. If you’re hearing 10/10 minus nothing, this man did not carry last, his only red flag was perfection cos everything was checked.

We agreed to meet two months later and he was suggesting “Ghana nko, abi we should do Tanzania?” Ahh no ooo, I’m my father’s second daughter, what did I do wrong? Let’s use eyes to see eyes at Golden tulip here and he said okay. We met and had real fun time and uncle said “let’s go somewhere else or what do you feel?” . Ah, what do I feel ke? I feel we should be there already. He suggested I picked the next place and nowhere else came to mind except a spa.

We got there and the first uncle said is “what are we doing here? Why is everywhere dark?”, I told him I wanted us to chat and sip wine over a pedicure session and he shouted “pedi what? When I’m not a gay”, I wasn’t sure how I felt at the moment cos I laughed and spilled the wine we were offered. Long story cut short, he stormed out screaming “LGBTQ rubbish, what does she take me for?” and that was the last time he heard from me.

I don’t know how he’s doing now but I hope he’s using the scales of fish on his heels to scrub his back now😂. Well, I’ll let you know when I see him again.

Dear Beloved,

Happy new month.

I Know this came in a little later than usual but I had 5 drafts, uncountable sighs, writer's block and I had to just write this hoping you like it . Welcome to one of my favorite months. How was April? *I caught you!^⁠_⁠^, You sighed. I'm currently writing to you from my room,on my bed that I've refused to leave today.

I'm tired of telling a month to be good but heysss May, let's have it. I'm writing to pour my heart and share what I went through last month.

I think it's common knowledge that happy pictures do not depict a happy lifestyle and if such people are called fake, then I'm fake. April challenged and held my collar and shouted “You! I'll kill you”, yes. I don't seem to remember but I guess I've been seeing preambles since March ending but I said let's give it time.

As a business owner, nothing makes me feel better than patronages, customers spreading the gospel to their friends and praises from the team but last month had the lowest turnout and that was my first and most important reason to be sad. I upped my game, tried discounts, spread my wings on Twitter but nothing was forthcoming. I tried to convince myself it was the cashless policy but how dare I lie to myself?. My man also tried lifting the mood by being supportive, tried to map out new strategies but when babe is not cashing out, nothing amuses babe.

People don't really care if you're breathing or not, they just want to bill you. Imagine struggling with my life and my empty bank account but someone that contributes nothing to my life needs me to bring 10k out, “urgently”. I'm a giver, I even give without waiting for people to ask because what's the thrill in that? . I don't like when I tell people that I'm broke and they start whining, saying “A CEO like you, stop lying jor and press money for us”. My dear, I'm not lying and if you give me, I'll take.

NYSC also tried to drain me. I had an issue with my inspector and the moment I encountered a small issue, I started crying because I'm very weak at heart. I don't enjoy confrontations or argument because I lack how to express myself in spoken words. This also ate me up for almost two weeks until I found out it wasn't as serious as I thought.

Someone broke my phone last month and its efficiency after that. Screen broken, battery draining faster than usual and if you know the apple market, I'd be getting half the offer I paid when I got it. I(we) fixed it but the perpetrator not apologizing eats me up till date.

My business almost went bankrupt (or did it?) because of the problems I had but I got it. I couldn't post for a while because I gave up on myself and it took my best friend always “begging” me to go back to it, I've conquered it.

My significant other wanted to give me high blood pressure too but God, is in control.

I went out on the last day of April which I want to believe I've celebrated my liberation from darkness, misery, sadness ,depression and being broke

No one talks about how hard being fat is, even though social media has termed it "thick" to make it sound better. Despite the fact that being well built is one of the beauty standards in this country, Nigerians body-shame a lot. I won't say the bullying is not well talked about but has it stopped? No. It never will.

Growing up, I was very skinny and when I look at my baby pictures , I just laugh because I'm certain no one that knew me then would ever think I'd weigh 50kg someday. Clothes never fits, my hair was giving rat leftovers, I had a very sharp mouth and I had very few pretty pictures cos I was always frowning. To be honest, I wasn't called names then, at least, not the ones that hurt. I guess I was thriving amongst sensible people.

My figure went on to secondary school when I started getting aware of my looks. I'd steal looks at the mirror, I was concerned if my lips was moisturized even though I was in a single sex school. Welp! If I tell you that women supporting women thing is fake, take it from me. I was already looking better and my stomach decided to grow too, that was the genesis of the body-shaming era. I knew two girls that would tease me with my tummy size (which was really okay) and I'd just laugh it off because they were my friends at the moment.

My puberty looked like it started late because I was close to the youngest in my set so, while my peers were growing and becoming adults, I was beckoning on my oranges and begging for pimples to come while I was eating magarine and eating groundnuts. I started growing late in SS2 and I remained petite with my "belly"

I started gaining real weight in 100l second semester and it was really hard for me. I was suddenly the fat friend and everyone made sure to make their thoughts known to me. My crop tops no longer fit, I couldn't wear my body hugs and I kept being overly conscious of my body. I weighed 68kg at the time but that was fat + my huge blossoms and my fat belly.

Body shaming they say, begins at home. I didn't have it good with my mum who always took it upon herself to remind herself to remind me I'm fat and I need to start dressing according to my body size, alongside a sprinkle of family members and neighbors. That was when I stopped wearing dresses and decided to stick with jeans and tops which became my everyday go-to.

I lost faith in myself, I started caring more about my appearance. I didn't have much access to social media so, body positivity was foreign to me. I was highly defensive and I came off rude to everyone that tried to talk about my body even as a "joke". I cut people off and I couldn't bring myself to making new friends because I don't know what their orientation is.

Last year, I upped my self-care game. I started working out at home, eating healthier, doing skincare and so on. Workout was paying little by little but I stopped when I started getting ugly stretch marks . Regardless, I stay eating healthy, getting rid of my body dysmorphia and preaching self love.

I don't know who needs to hear this but regardless of your body type, self-love comes first because on the long run, everyone gets these snide remarks. You matter, you're beautiful and that's key ♥️.

I don’t even understand the school of thought because why would I tell you about my new relationship or a guy I’m speaking to and the first thing that will jump out of your mouth is “It will end in tears” and you expect me not to think you’re a hater? Believe me, that’s the last you will hear of me .

How can people want to post their partners when there are people like this on their timeline? Trust me, they’re everywhere even your “bestie”. I’ve seen people saying it like it’s a joke but really, it’s a very insensitive thing to say. It literally says you don’t wish my relationship well and me crying in your dm is all you wish for me.

Personally, I’m a very loud person when I’m in love. I post my partner anytime I deem fit, I write about him on my tweets anytime he comes to mind because that’s my own way of documenting things but this trend totally made me stop . Made me feel insecure and paranoid about putting my partner on a platform of thousands of people I don’t know and cannot control their thoughts. Imagine posting a loved up picture or video of you and yours and one unloved being comments “It will end in tears” and when you reply God forbid, they say “we will be here.”. “Here” doing what? Waiting for the breakup? I’d rather keep him in my gallery and post him in my circle.

Don’t allow anyone to define your relationship, it won’t end in tears and if it does, whatever. You’ll cry and move on again. Block out negativity and do whatever it takes to be happy in your relationship.

And Lastly…

The first culture shock was that boys were everywhere 😭, I wasn't prepared. I went to a single sex school and if I tell you I've forgotten that much males existed in the real world. I didn't feel like I fit in , my legs felt heavy and I was walking two miles at a time. I went to my department and discovered my course mates were already in a general class. I met someone who told me he was heading to the class so,I followed him and that was when the first catastrophe struck! My sandals cut😭. Like, the sole removed from the whole leather on the first day of class when I was yet to meet any of my colleagues. How would they believe that's not I walk around with one and a half sandal everyday😪?

I got to the hall and the class didn't hold and Little Ms. Anxiety didn't deem it necessary to introduce myself to anyone. My class governor caught me and had a little chit-chat, he gave me the timetable which showed I was done for the day. I left in a hurry to go and fix my sandals but I popped by the department again for a reason I've forgotten about and a masters student that decide to handle my business for me screamed “hey! Can't you see your sandals have cut or is that how you go about everyday?” Looking at me disgustingly like I stepped on her poo. I just gave her a bombastic side eye and limped away to get it fixed.

The day went by quickly and that's how my first day in uni went.

I mopped around because of that incident for like a week and I was hoping everyone that saw me that day has forgotten how I looked like.

2011 September, I gained admission to Feggo (Federal Government Girls’ college). I was inspired by the rate of transfer from my school to boarding schools, and I knew I had to be there. Luckily, my uncle spoke to my dad about the school at the same time and my dad started making enquiries. I was excited and my joy knew no bounds but did I know what was coming? No!. I got accepted after an examination and my offer of admission was sent alongside school bills and required items. I can remember shopping everyday for a whole week because I was going to a new school and a boarding school at that. My parents didn't want me to lack anything.

I resumed with so much enthusiasm but I started seeing shege from the school gate. I didn’t complete my medicals before resuming and I had to go back to the hospital. The ophthalmologist insisted I get glasses and the Dentist insisted I get a filling but I insisted I was okay and after rounds of convincing, they let me go and I returned to the school to complete my registration.

I was ready to go to classes already and I could remember hopping from the gate excitedly behind my cousin that helped me with my bags. I went to the hostel first to drop my bags and finish my hostel registration but my first shock was the size of the bed I had to sleep on. To top that, I had to sleep on the upper bunk and all I could think of was how to climb that dreadful-looking thing and not fall. The bed space was so small but regardless, I was finally a boarder.

The thing shock me!

The wristwatch my mum got for me ticked 6:30 and it was time for dinner. I followed my cousin to the dining hall, we queued for a while and got in. I had to share her table because I had not been grouped to a table and when I saw the food, the tears I had been suppressing started flowing ceaselessly 😭. It was called moin-moin but all my eyes saw was a pink liquid. I looked around and saw people eating it with joy and I saw no one sharing in my pain. A senior who had been noticing my silent battle looked at me and said “Better eat it like that, dinner will soon be over”. She further showed me how to pop the nylon and just suck it because no one bothered using a plate😭. I ate it like that o but what my eyes saw, it cannot contain this newsletter.

Hey Bestie,

How are we doing today?. Well, for me… I’m not fine. I’m currently writing this at my lowest point. I’ve always been a careful person, especially with my phone. I could fall and break a bone or two but my phone would remain safe. In 2021, I had an accident that resulted in the vehicle flipping over but guess what? I still had a tight grip on my phone. Yeah, that’s how much I protect my baby. Well, it happened that someone dropped my phone and cracked my screen and I haven’t been able to take my mind off it. You know how Nigerian mums would rather burn the house themselves than watch you break their plate ? That’s how I feel right now. Well, enough about me. How was your weekend?

Today, I’m talking about my greatest vice, Procrastination and I know quite a number of my besties are on this table.

What is procrastination?

Procrastination is the act of delaying or postponing a set of tasks.

Prior to when I knew what procrastination means, I used to think it was laziness but the day our principal had a pep talk with us, what I thought was redefined. I’m a huge procrastinator , if I’m given 2 years to complete an assignment, I wouldn’t touch it until it’s a day before deadline. This has really drawn me back in certain stages of life but I’m gradually overcoming it. It earned me the spirit of perfection and I would never feel anything I do is good enough. In my uni days, I’d never turn in my assignments on time. If there wasn’t a deadline or serious consequences, I wouldn’t submit a file. I wouldn’t sign my exam pass on time or not sign at all , I’d rather get delayed before entering the examination hall. I didn’t finish my project until we were given a “submit or pay another school fees” deadline.

Procrastination is a thief of time and it steals a lot from you. I’ve missed out on many opportunities just because I couldn’t pitch my brand to other brands. I can’t count how many times I had to waste money or pay double to get work done in a small frame of time just because I refused to do it earlier. I’ve missed out on productivity and lots of things because I’d see a post and bookmark it to come to it later instead of getting it done right away and you know something about bookmarks?? It never gets opened. Well, I found help.

Last month, I started reading some books on self-help which is a surprise because I deem it as a waste of time. I mean, what will Albert Einstein write that I don’t have in my head (just kidding, just kidding😂). I prefer reading fiction or mystery novels to reading “how to be self-sufficient”. Well, that’s just me. I got my hands on some e-books and my friend sent me a hard copy. I read long and hard and gained some tips and I’m willing to share.

Which are:

1. Always have a to-do list

2. Set small goals

3. Organize your tasks carefully

4. Focus your attention

5. Remove distractions

6. Forgive yourself

7. Celebrate success of small task

*Me when I’m eating chicken on Sunday and I remember Monday is two seconds away…

So, today I’ll tell you about how I lost my potential boyfriend because he found out I watch serial killer movies. I met Mr X on Instagram, his message had used like a semester in my requests before I saw it, when I saw the approach and intro, I couldn’t leave my Prince charming hanging. We started talking immediately and it felt like we had known each other for months, it was natural. We hung out a few times and talked on phone every day.

As for me, if you don’t pop the question, I’m still single and I guess he wanted me to assume we were in a relationship but *I can’t see I’m blindddd*. I ignored oga and he kept on looking too, calling me babe, habibi, sending gifts and stuffs but as for me, I’m single. I liked him a lot so I couldn’t go on like that, I dropped hints and he asked to take me on a date and I accepted

He picked me up and he drove down to a restaurant he had made reservations for a day earlier, another reason why I like Mr X . He’s the only man that never made me pick out a date spot. He was all touchy, my top love language and not once did I let go. He made me giggle , the butterflies in my tummy fluttered and this time around, it’s because my heart was full. He was a careful driver too and he fixed my hair severally because he drives a convertible.

We arrived at the restaurant and we had people waiting to collect us at the restaurant to lead us to our table. We had our first course, second and we paused to talk before they bring dessert and the rum I wanted. All this while, I was half-eating, half-smiling and looking around to see if there was a bouquet laying on a table somewhere beside a plate that had “will you be my girlfriend?” Written on it with syrup. You know, like the proposals we see on baddies’ stories on IG

Just as if he was in my mind, he looked into my eyes and said “Temi, I really like you and you become more beautiful each time we see but I’m scared of you”. I lost almost 40 pounds immediately and broke out in a sweat. “Scare you? How?”, I was saying 55 languages at once and blaming my village people until he said “I still can’t shake off the fact that you watch serial killers documentaries for fun, are you okay?” He looked really concerned for me. Which took me back to our second date.

Two days after our first date, he couldn’t stop talking about how he wanted to see me again and the feeling was mutual so, I told him to pick a place, he had opted for the cinema but I declined and told him they don’t show my preferred genre of movie which is horror, I remember the shock he expressed that day but it disappeared immediately like it was never there, I thought it didn’t mean anything to him. I looked at him again with the help of the dim light coming from the little lights in the restaurant ,with my most charming smile and he said “there it is again, smiling as if nothing is wrong right now. We can still be in touch but we can’t date”. Then he paid the bill, dropped me off at home in silence and left.

I woke up from my dream and ran to my IG requests to see if a Mr X is in my requests so I can tell him Mount Zion movies are my favorite but Mark had already deleted all my requests so, I went back to sleep.

Hi Bestie!

It’s me , the coward (yes!). How are you doing? I still can’t believe I summoned the courage to write here. This is my first public post, I wanted to sign up here almost two years ago when I saw a link on my timeline and the story looked catchy, it prompted me to sign up but was it enough? No

I’m my biggest hater (sorry, not sorry), I believe in perfection and I’m far from it, anyways… I’ve dumped that version of myself and here, I am.

I started writing in my first year in Junior secondary school, I’d just scribble something in my note and give everyone to read , I was loving it until I started reading others’ works and I started beating myself up for not being good enough and eventually, I stopped

I’ve been struggling to write my first piece but my friend kept me going, she call me bad energy
